Jessica is the co-founder and CEO of SwellSpace, an AI-powered platform that makes benefits and HR information easier for employees to understand and use. With more than 25 years in the technology sector, she has spent much of her career building software that simplifies the complex world of benefits and HR. Before SwellSpace, she spent nearly 13 years at Benefitfocus, most recently as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Global Services, leading the platform’s growth and technical evolution.

Jessica holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering Management from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Computer Science minor from the College of Charleston.

Beyond her executive work, Jessica is deeply committed to community leadership, serving as Board Chair for the South Carolina Aquarium and Charleston Women in Tech, and sitting on the board of the Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation. She previously served on the CORE SC board.

Greg brings deep expertise in enterprise software engineering, including his previous role as Vice President of Engineering at Orange Bees. As the second full-time hire at Benefitfocus, he was instrumental in building its eEnrollment and eBilling applications serving more than 20 million people, leading teams in enterprise architecture, performance management, and platform development.

Greg holds a master’s degree in Computer Engineering from Clemson University, with a focus on Parallel Systems Architecture and Hardware Acceleration, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics, also from Clemson.

Shawn cofounded Benefitfocus in 2000 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and served as its CEO for nearly two decades. Under his leadership, the company went public in 2013 and grew to serve more than 28 million employees across the country’s largest insurance carriers and over one million employers.

After stepping back from Benefitfocus, Shawn returned to the employee benefits space to explore what AI could make possible. He cofounded the company now named SwellSpace, Inc., and serves as its Chairman and Head of Product.

Shawn is the benefactor of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston, which opened in 2020. He remains deeply involved with the hospital and is committed to directing the success of SwellSpace toward funding pediatric medical research worldwide.
