Choose a Blank or Starter Template

When you create a website from the beginning, SwellSpace allows you to choose between
creating your website from one of the starter templates or one of the blank templates.

  • Starter templates provide the user with content already created to help speed up the creation process. We recommend the use of starter templates for those who have not used a website builder before.
  • Blank templates provide the user with the ability to work with an empty shell from the start. We recommend starting here if you’re more comfortable creating a website and already have a website “map” or “structure” in mind.

Starter Templates

Utilizing a starter template enables you to edit an already-created website, prepopulated with with multiple pages of content. Choose the starter template that best suits your needs. We provide the following starter templates:

  • Co-Branding for Insurance Brokers
  • Multi-Page General Benefits for HR Administrators and Business Owners
  • Open Enrollment

Blank Templates

You can choose from 4 purpose-built layouts when you create from a blank template.

  • Beaufain
  • Hutson
  • Montagu
  • Rutledge

Each of the blank templates offers different ways for you to set up your home page hero image. Using the menu on the left-hand side of the menu, you’ll be able to choose and preview how each template will utilize imagery and text.

Blank Templates

Whether you’ve decided to utilize a starter template or a blank template as a starting point, once you’ve decided which path to move forward with, you will need to click on the “Choose Template” button at the top, right-hand side of the screen to move forward to the editing and content adding process.

After you’ve clicked on the “Choose Template” button, SwellSpace will prompt you to name the site and provide the URL you’d like to use. Don't forget to click on "Create" after you've included the site name and site URL.
Note: The URL you provide at this point will only act as a temporary placeholder. Once you complete designing your website, and you’re ready to publish, SwellSpace will then and only then ensure that the URL provided is available.

If you have already set a custom URL for the account and/or have subscribed to the Agency Plan, the “Name Your Site and URL" pop-up will include additional controls. Below is an example that allows you to choose a Custom URL (only available for Small Business Plans and up) and allows you to choose a client (only available on the Agency Plan.
